Hip Hop Trio To Perform Saturday @ Players 3/7/03

JTREY, an Iowa hip-hop powerhouse, will be performing live at 9pm Saturday March 1st at Players, 1210 S. Shore Drive, Clear Lake. Crossing culture and state boundaries, JTrey offers a new form of hip-hop adding elements of rhythm and blues and rock along the way. The band is made up of emcees Skylar Johnson and JT, and singer/emcee Jay B. JTrey has teamed up with A+9 Records of Bakersfield, Calif., and Eastside Records of Portland, Ore., to promote its debut CD, "The Time Has Come." Released early this month, the album boasts the hit singles "Drift Away, " a remake of the classic rock song by Dobie Gray, and "Welcome to the I," an up-tempo track featuring Bullet, a major name in the Northwest hip-hop scene. It also includes other JTrey favorites "Feelin' You" featureing Kameil Madison, an up and coming female hip-hop.R&B singer from Michigan, "Forever Roll," "Its My World," and "Been A Long Time." In 2001, JTrey opened for BET comedian Rodney Johnson as well as won a spot to open up for a Juvenile and Cash Money Millionaires concert. The group has embarked on a state-wide tour in support of its CD. The JTrey vision is to expose local hip-hop throughout the state and gain support for independent music.
