The Midwest is built for dreamers, and no one knows this better than hip-hop three piece, Skool’d. With their unique blend of old school hip-hop, funk, and more contemporary hip-hop, one listen to their debut EP, All That Matters, has you identifying influences ranging from A Tribe Called Quest and Notorious B.I.G to Jay-Z and Kid Cudi. Skool’d began in late 2010 and immediately began working on All That Matters, which is currently available for free download.
As a listener, it’s difficult not to identify with a group of aspiring musicians whose only goal is to get their music and ideas out to anyone who can relate. As difficult as modern pop culture has made it, Skool’d is a group searching for substance and authenticity in a world where fame and fortune is the goal, and music merely the means to get there.
